This past Monday, September 9th, our team hosted the fifth annual Blogger and the Brand Womens’ event. As one of the largest invite-only influencer events during New York Fashion Week, Blogger and the Brand again brought local brands and content creators (we used to call them bloggers) together to learn how they can “collaborate” with more synergism. Influencers from as far away as California and Texas took advantage of an opportunity to learn how they can continue providing value to brands despite increasing competition and fraud, whether they have one thousand combined followers or a million.
Influencer marketing has evolved considerably in the past half-decade, but the format if the event, rooted in education and networking has not changed considerably. For the first time, the event was held at The Lispenard Loft in Tribeca, a beautiful sunlit space with moder decorative finishes. Guests arriving at the venue were immediately greeted by the smiling faces of the Ombre team and complimentary beverages from Rise Brewing Co. Whether they chose the Oat Milk Latte or the blah, the ensuing kick was the perfect jolt to commence an evening of new friendships after a long day of fashion shows and events.
Accompanying Rise Brewing Co in the main event space were a few of our amazing sponsors.Gwell provided healthy treats that were dispensed before the networking hour had passed and Simply Gum provided rubber-free gum (yes most gum are like car tires) in three energizing flavors, Natural Pepperment, Cleansing Grapefruit and Reviving Lime. Gwell also provided a batch of their delicious plant based Tea cookies.
The Salon Project was also present to offer quick touchups and hair styling for guests who were interested. DJ Nicole Rose was one of the first to take advantage and others quickly followed suit.
Rounding out the presenting sponsors were GT’s Living Food, who brought kombucha for everyone in attendance and When Beauty, who returned with their amazing Korean face masks and creams, a favorite for all in attendance.
As always with Blogger and the Brand, education took center-stage during the panel, where panelists Evie Phillips and Norah Murphy joined Style Host Rohma Siddiqui for an exciting conversation about the latest shifts in the influencer marketing industry. Evie Phillips, founder and CEO of Creeds Collective approached topics from her experience managing public relations and communications campaigns for brands such as Karl Lagerfeld and Nicole Bennett. As one of the youngest influencer marketing associates at Clique Brands, Norah Murphy highlighted her direct experience working with influencers on campaigns for Who What Wear through their influencer network. While the two panelists had very different career paths, they were anchored by Style Host, Rohma Siddiqui, whop could speak directly to the changes in communication and selections for campaigns as a Pakistani-American content creator.
Following the panel, guests were treated to champagne in a can from beverage partner Shamps, which quickly became one the most popular drink of the night. Throughout the event, select content creators also participated in direct one on few meetings with local brands including Rose Rockers, Nosofa Club, Heike NY, Jade Chi Clothing and Atelier Stefani, the first such activation in Blogger and the Brand history.
As the influencer marketing industry continues to grow, so too shall the need for events similar to Blogger and the Brand, which focus on not only creating opportunities for macro and nano influencers to directly connect with content creators in their local market, but also to teach content creators how to better facilitate and grow these relationships.
